What is the Inshore ISSA Skipper Course at Let's Boat School?
The Let’s Boat Inshore Skipper Course is designed for those who want to confidently take command of a sailing yacht in coastal waters. Built in accordance with International Sailing Schools Association (ISSA) standards, the course combines solid theoretical foundations with intensive hands-on training, ensuring real-world skills — not just certification.
During the course, you will learn how to safely operate a yacht in inshore conditions, plan routes, handle docking and anchoring, manage crew responsibilities, and respond effectively to changing weather and unexpected situations. Special attention is given to safety procedures, seamanship, and decision-making — essential skills for any responsible skipper.
Training takes place on well-maintained yachts in real coastal environments, allowing you to gain practical experience under the guidance of experienced instructors. The course is suitable both for aspiring skippers taking their first step toward independent sailing and for sailors who wish to structure and formalize their existing experience.
By the end of the program, you will not only be prepared to pass the ISSA Inshore Skipper certification, but also feel confident, competent, and ready to skipper a yacht responsibly — whether for personal sailing, family trips, or future charter adventures.

After the course, a cadet will be able to:
- Identify the basic parts of a yacht and understand their purpose
- Operate basic onboard systems
- Operate VHF radio (ISSA certificate VHF operator)
- Refill water and diesel tanks
- Start and operate the inboard engine
- Recognize and use elementary yacht equipment
- Name the points of sail in relation to the wind
- Handle sail sheets and halyards
- Manage mooring lines
- Properly position and handle fenders
- Operate the anchor safely and effectively
- Handle a dinghy during transfers or mooring
- Deliver a safety briefing both above and below deck
- MOB operation practice
- Handle the yacht under power (engine)
- Handle the yacht under sail
- Understand the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
- Recognize and interpret navigational aids
- Use terrestrial navigation techniques
- Apply electronic navigation tools
- Understand basic marine meteorology
