Our Story
Our story started long before us, and the love for boats and the sea was passed down by our ancestors. Ukraine is famous for its sailors, and the city of Kherson is known for the maritime academies that educated thousands of sailors, navigators, and captains. At the end of the 19th century, our great-great-grandfather lived in the town of Port Khorly in southern Ukraine. He was the head of the seaport, owned a large sea boat, had a beautiful daughter and five sons who helped him.
Our great-grandfather was a skilled fisherman, owned various boats, and went fishing with the famous Ukrainian writer Ostap Vyshnia. Our grandfather was also an avid fisherman, had a house on the shore, and different boats. He was the one who taught us to love boats, engines, and fishing.
Our father was a professional sailor who traveled half the world on a large sailing ship and worked on merchant vessels. He taught us to love the sea, maritime stories, knots, and order on a boat.
As you can see, from childhood we had very little chance not to fall in love with the sea and boats or choose a different path — but we missed that chance completely and preserved our family traditions. People often say that children are brought by storks or found in cabbage fields… but children from Kherson are found in the reeds. We were born and spent almost our whole lives on the banks of the Dnipro River in Kherson, in the south of Ukraine.
We spent our entire childhood either on the riverbank or in a boat on the Dnipro, or by the sea in Crimea with our grandparents.
Since childhood, we sailed on all kinds of boats — from a big metal basin with a plywood paddle, to inflatable boats, metal boats without an engine, metal boats with an engine, sea cutters, port tugboats… and all the way up to a small “Assol” type sailboat and a bigger 22-foot Dutch sea sailing yacht of our own.
We also managed to build several wooden boats, and on the largest one (10 meters, square sail, 8 oars, 8 rowers) we traveled more than 1,000 km under sail and oars. It was a reconstruction of a medieval Viking-era boat.
Having our own boats and exploring the world with friends, we wanted to create trips, excursions, and tours for our community and clients.
Since 2007, as a public organization, we have been organizing expeditions, training programs for children and teenagers, adult adventures, and small festivals dedicated to history and culture — events that gathered hundreds and thousands of people.
In 2014 we founded the company KhersON, which specialized in tours and excursions around Ukraine and abroad, and also organized major city festivals on the riverfront — events filled with boats, yachts, athletes, children, restaurateurs, musicians, and guests. Among the hundreds of tours and excursions, there were also 1–2-day yacht trips, week-long voyages, and even two-week sea tours.
By 2022, we were the largest tour operator in southern Ukraine and had big plans — until the war came to our home.
We lost our home, our office, all our belongings — but we kept part of our team and all of our experience. While continuing to help the Ukrainian army and supporting civilian communities that remained near the frontline, we keep doing what we know, what we love, and what we believe is meaningful.
We are convinced that the world would have far fewer wars and conflicts if people traveled more, explored their own and neighboring countries, learned from the best examples of development, urban improvement, and nature preservation.
Especially when those travels happen on boats.
In 2024, we separately founded the company Let’s Boat. This company is our rebirth, a new form of our experience, our passion for what we do, and our new ideas. We offer boat rentals around the world and continue organizing exciting tours in different countries. We also conduct masterclasses in sailing, fishing, and boat handling.
In October 2024, we decided that we wanted not only to share our experience, organize tours, and show the wonders of the world to our clients and guests, but also to officially teach and issue skipper licenses. We completed the training, passed the exams, and became licensed instructors of the ISSA. The exam was personally conducted by ISSA President Tomasz Lipski. Now we can issue skipper licenses to our students after successfully completing our courses (both theory and practice).
Welcome aboard.
Timeline
3200–3000 BCE – The first depictions of sailing boats in Ancient Egypt. It is believed that this is where the idea of using wind for movement first appeared — the beginning of the history of sails.
1000 CE – Leif Erikson crossed the Atlantic on a longship and reached the shores of North America.
1254 – Birth of the Venetian merchant and traveler (possibly of Croatian origin) Marco Polo. Although most of his journeys were overland, his knowledge of maritime routes in Asia laid the foundation for the Age of Discovery.
15th–17th centuries – Zaporizhian Cossacks’ naval campaigns on chaika boats. A unique phenomenon of early maritime art. Ukrainian Cossacks successfully operated in the Black and Mediterranean Seas, covering distances inaccessible to most fleets of the time.
1519 – The first circumnavigation of the globe by Magellan – Elcano.
1803 – The beginning of the famous circumnavigation on two ships, Neva and Nadezhda, led by German Adam Johann von Krusenstern and Ukrainian Yuriy Fedorovych Lysianskyi.
1834 – A maritime school for training sailors and navigators was opened in Kherson.
1846 – Birth of Mykola Miklouho-Maclay, Ukrainian ethnographer and traveler, who conducted numerous sea expeditions, discovered new peoples, and meticulously mapped regions of New Guinea and Oceania previously unexplored by Europeans.
1851 – The first America’s Cup race. The beginning of the oldest sailing regatta in history, which remains one of the pinnacles of sailing sport and technology.
Late 19th century – (we don’t know the exact date). Birth of our great-great-grandfather Oleksiy, who was a boat owner and port master.
1937 – Birth of our grandfather Anatoliy, who taught us to love boats and fishing.
1963 – Birth of our father in Sevastopol, who later became a professional sailor.
1983 & 1989 – Our birth years: Pavlo and Oleksiy.
2007 – Founding of our public organization “Oleshshia”, which organized festivals, expeditions, rowing and sailing activities, and events for children.
2014 – Founding of our company KhersON, actively engaged in tourism development, excursions, tours, historical projects, and sailing activities.
2018 – we started teaching sailing and conducting masterclasses.
2024 – Founding of Let’s Boat, a company that:
- rents sailing yachts, catamarans, and other boats;
- organizes exciting tours in different countries around the world;
- provides skipper training, masterclasses, and is a licensed ISSA school.
2026 – we launched a new website and raised the new sails of the project.
Meet Our Team
Pavlo
One of the Biletskyi brothers. The one who loves speed and sets the sails at every opportunity. He enjoys fixing things, understanding how everything works, and improving it — from our website to the VHF radio, the engine, and even the world as a whole. A licensed diver, designer, skipper, instructor, biker, fisherman, and co-founder of the company. He is personally responsible for partnerships, training courses, and the strategic direction of the company.
Oleksii (Oleksa)
One of the Biletskyi brothers. The one who loves archaeology, cultural studies, beautiful locations, and fascinating stories. He enjoys fishing, quiet scenic bays, and the underwater world. A licensed skipper, instructor, historian, designer, and co-founder of the company. He is the one who creates our tours, routes, recommendations, lectures, and excursions.
Anna
A manager who responds to your requests, helps you find the right boat, organizes training, and arranges tours. She loves cooking and experimenting with food while exploring cuisines from around the world. She enjoys sails, remote islands, beaches, seashells, sharks, the underwater world, swimming, and dancing on the deck. She supports, inspires, and motivates.
Nadiia
Back-office manager and the company’s reliable backbone. The author of our graphics and some of our design solutions. She loves Asian countries, art, and anchoring in quiet bays. She provides support and care within the team.
Anton
Our camera operator, drone pilot, video editor, archive keeper, photographer, and fender handler along the sides. He has gone from a landlubber to a photographer-deckhand. He loves traveling, eating well, and singing in the shower on a yacht.
And many other skippers and instructors who help make our courses and tours engaging, safe, and professional. Our team is growing and expanding because we are open to productive partnerships and active, ideological members. Do you want to join us?
Our perspective
At Let’s Boat, we’ve never seen ourselves as a finished project.
We’re a journey — just like the ones we organize at sea.
Our team is constantly growing, learning, and evolving. New people join us, new ideas appear, new countries open their harbors, and new partners come aboard. The routes expand, the experiences become richer, and every season brings something we didn’t even plan a year before.
What stays the same are our principles, our mission, our belief in what we do, and our desire to make this world a little better through the sea, adventure, and meaningful connections between people.
We started with something simple — organizing sailing tours.
Then came yacht charter. After that — training programs and skipper certifications.
Today we’re building more services around the world of sailing, helping people not only travel by sea but truly become part of it.
And honestly, we’re just getting started.
Ahead of us we see:
- new destinations and countries,
- stronger partnerships,
- bigger events and sailing communities,
- maybe even our own sea festivals,
- our own fleet,
- perhaps one day… our own marina,
- or even a children’s sailing school.
Who knows? The sea tends to reward those who keep moving.
If you’re curious where this journey goes next — follow us and stay connected.
Let’s stay in touch:
We’ll be sharing our stories, new routes, ideas, and plans there. And maybe your next adventure will start from one of those posts.
