Upon completion of this course, you will be certified to operate the following vessels:
Sailing Yacht
Maximum length: up to 24 meters
Navigation time: day and night
Distance from Shelter: up to 20 nautical miles from shore
Motorboat
Maximum length: up to 12 meters
Navigation time: daytime only
Distance from Shelter: up to 20 nautical miles from shore
Whether you are planning a multi-day coastal sailing trip or a leisurely day cruise, your certification opens the door to safe and independent boating in real-world conditions.
Course Requirements
- Required previous certification: None.
- Age: 16 - 99 years.
- A stable internet connection and basic technical equipment required for video calls.
- Fill out the student questionnaire before the start of the course.
- Payment at least 2 weeks before the course to ensure timely provision of visual materials, which will be sent by Post.
After the course, a cadet will be able to:
- Identify the basic parts of a yacht and understand their purpose
- Operate basic onboard systems
- Operate VHF radio (ISSA certificate VHF operator)
- Refill water and diesel tanks
- Start and operate the inboard engine
- Recognize and use elementary yacht equipment
- Name the points of sail in relation to the wind
- Handle sail sheets and halyards
- Manage mooring lines
- Properly position and handle fenders
- Operate the anchor safely and effectively
- Handle a dinghy during transfers or mooring
- Deliver a safety briefing both above and below deck
- MOB operation practice
- Handle the yacht under power (engine)
- Handle the yacht under sail
- Understand the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
- Recognize and interpret navigational aids
- Use terrestrial navigation techniques
- Apply electronic navigation tools
- Understand basic marine meteorology
