VHF Radio Operator Course
This is a one-day Short Range Operator Certificate course, which is a prerequisite for obtaining a variety of ISSA Skipper standard certificates and licenses, including boat captain, coastal vessel captain, offshore vessel captain, etc.
Your Opportunities After the Course
The ISSA VHF Radio Course is a one-day course designed for anyone planning to become an Inshore Skipper, Offshore Skipper, or Yachtmaster Offshore. You'll learn how to confidently use VHF radios for everyday communication, as well as in urgent situations like Pan Pan and Mayday calls. We’ll show you how to use both fixed and handheld radios, and you’ll get plenty of hands-on practice.You’ll work through real radio conversations, learn how to send distress messages using DSC VHF radios, and get familiar with the GMDSS safety system. The course is tailored to the same modern radio equipment we use on our training yachts at Let's Boat.
Course Requirements
- Required previous certification: None.
- Experience required prior training: None
- Age: 16 - 99 years.
- A stable internet connection and basic technical equipment required for video calls.
- Fill out the student questionnaire before the start of the course.
